CopperLens launches compact LIDAR module and raises $18M Series A

CopperLens's new module is a hardware-plus-sdk package that connects over USB-C or M.2 and exposes high-resolution depth maps to host devices. The company says its optical design achieves sub-centimeter accuracy while consuming a fraction of the power of current enterprise LIDAR units.

The $18 million raised in the Series A will fund miniaturization, production ramp for a developer kit, and improvements to the software stack, including a low-latency depth streaming protocol and mobile-friendly SLAM primitives. Accel led the round with participation from hardware-focused angel investors.

CopperLens targets AR developers, robotics makers, and UX researchers who want to prototype spatial interfaces without committing to expensive industrial sensors. The startup is also releasing example Unity and React Native integrations to lower the barrier for designers and engineers experimenting with depth-aware layouts.
