EchoPlay raises $28M to launch audio-first game engine tools

EchoPlay announced a $28 million funding round led by Resonance Partners to build audio-first tools for game developers, including procedural sound generation, adaptive music layers, and audio-driven gameplay hooks. The company positions its middleware as complementary to existing engines like Unity and Unreal.
The middleware supports runtime audio morphing based on game states and player telemetry, enabling dynamic soundscapes that respond to player intent. EchoPlay also provides an in-editor design surface for composers and sound designers to prototype adaptive tracks rapidly.
EchoPlay plans to offer licensing models for indie and AAA studios, plus a cloud service to handle heavy audio asset generation. The company expects to publish technical case studies with early partners later this year.
