EchoPlay raises $33M to launch a cloud-native streaming SDK for synchronous multiplayer

EchoPlay, a startup formed by ex-console network engineers, closed $33 million in Series A led by Playfield Ventures. The company launched EchoStream, a streaming and networking SDK that packages rollback netcode, deterministic simulation, and cloud-hosted peer relays to lower the barrier for synchronous multiplayer games.

EchoStream provides integrated hosting, auto-scaling match clusters, and developer tools for latency compensation, reducing the complexity of building twitch-based multiplayer experiences. The SDK supports both server-authoritative and peer-simulated flows, allowing teams to tune for fairness versus responsiveness.

EchoPlay says several indie and mid-market studios are already piloting EchoStream for fighting, racing, and rhythm titles. The funding will expand the team and build more platform integrations, including with popular engines and cloud providers.
