EchoRift, which provides networking middleware for real-time multiplayer games, announced a $45 million Series A led by Playfield Ventures. The funds will expand server capacity, invest in SDKs for consoles, and build a latency observability platform to help studios debug desyncs.
The EchoRift stack focuses on rollback techniques optimized for variable client performance, offering deterministic frame reconciliation and adaptive prediction. The company says it reduces perceived lag and improves fairness in fast-paced genres like fighting and racing games while preserving cross-platform parity.
Several mid-size studios cited faster debugging cycles and smoother crossplay experiences during private tests. EchoRift will provide managed hosting and a hybrid option where studios can run core services in their own cloud accounts for compliance-sensitive titles.
