EchoRift raises $60M to fund cross-platform VR studio and unveils its narrative engine

The funding was led by StoryArc Capital with strategic investments from a major console maker. EchoRift intends to scale production teams, expand its IP slate, and onboard partners to build episodic VR and AR experiences using the new engine.

The EchoRift Engine offers a modular narrative system, spatial audio tools, and a deterministic state manager that makes story branching performant across standalone headsets and tethered systems. The engine also includes tooling for non-programmers to script branching dialogue and adaptive scenes.

EchoRift plans to co-produce several titles with established narrative studios and run an incubation program for indie creators. The company is betting that improved cross-platform tooling and a focus on story will unlock a broader audience for premium immersive experiences.
