Epic adds LLM-powered level design assistant to Unreal Engine Marketplace

The LLM-powered assistant ingests level geometry, lighting scenes, and metadata such as enemy placements and difficulty curves. It produces suggestions ranging from high-level pacing tweaks ('add a calm corridor before the next combat wave') to concrete prop placement ideas.
The plugin includes a feedback loop where designers can rate suggestions and fine-tune the assistant's stylistic preferences, enabling personalized behavior for different game genres. It also exports change sets that can be reviewed and merged in source control.
Indie studios appreciated the creative boost, especially for generating side-content and replayable variants of levels. Epic cautioned that the assistant is intended to augment, not replace, human level designers, and included moderation tools to prevent generation of IP-infringing or unsafe content.
