The new design moved from a one-time modal to contextual micro-consents: a short, plain-language summary displayed the first time the AI reaches a decision significant to care (e.g., triage recommendations). Each micro-consent linked to a layered explainer that included model purpose, data retention policies, and a simple toggle to opt out. Clinicians could see consent history in the patient record, and patients could revoke consent from a settings screen with an audit trail visible to authorized providers.
Pilot results at two partner clinics showed that informed opt-out rates stabilized around 11%, while patient satisfaction on trust metrics rose by 18%. Clinicians reported fewer repeated questions about AI usage, and compliance teams appreciated the built-in auditability.
