Fathom Vision raises $22M to commercialize AI-assisted camera calibration for AR

Fathom’s toolkit uses learned priors and per-device calibration models to produce denser depth maps from commodity cameras, reducing reliance on expensive sensors. The result is improved occlusion and more stable virtual object placement across lighting conditions.

Developers can integrate Fathom’s SDK into existing AR frameworks and calibrate devices in under a minute using a guided capture flow. The company reports up to 2x improvement in virtual object stability in pilot tests with retail AR experiences.

The funding will expand platform support, add enterprise SLAs, and create a cloud rendering option that offloads expensive fusion operations. Strategic investors include an AR hardware manufacturer that will jointly test optimized runtimes.
