Figma 2026.2 Adds Generative Components and Style-Aware Variants

Figma 2026.2 centers on Generative Components: components that expose adjustable parameters (text tone, density, brand color rules) and internally call Figma’s hosted generation runtime to populate content and visual states. Designers can lock constraints so that generated variants automatically conform to existing brand tokens and accessibility contrast thresholds.

The update also brings Style-Aware Variants — an extension of Variants that uses a compact model to suggest consistent visual permutations across component states. For teams, this means generating hover, disabled, and error states that remain cohesive with a shared theme, without manually designing each permutation.

Figma emphasized interoperability: generated outputs are standard vector layers, editable and compatible with plugins. The company also released a plugin SDK extension for third-party LLMs and local runtimes, enabling custom model integration for enterprises concerned about data residency.
