Figma 2026.2 introduces Motion Logic in Auto Layout for responsive microinteractions

With the 2026.2 release, Auto Layout expands beyond static constraints: designers can now assign easing curves, spring dynamics, and delay chains to layout changes, which are then preserved when components are nested or resized. The aim is to make responsive transitions deterministic across breakpoint changes.
Figma also introduced preview tooling that simulates device-specific frame rates and thermal performance to surface animation jank early. Motion properties sync with the prototyping timeline, and exported motion data can be converted into production-friendly CSS or Lottie-compatible JSON.
The update includes collaboration features: motion annotations and rationale can be threaded in comments, and engineers can lock motion parameters before export. Figma says the change reduces handoffs and spec translations between designers and developers.
