Figma and Adobe announce interoperability layer for design tokens and assets

The interoperability layer standardizes token formats, versioning, and asset metadata so teams can share color systems, type scales, and component assets across Figma and Adobe's design tools. Syncs can be one-way or bidirectional, with conflict resolution policies.

Both vendors highlighted that the layer supports token scoping, semantic naming, and transformation rules so tokens adapt to platform conventions (web, iOS, Android). Asset sync includes linked SVGs and layered PSD/AI compatibility where feasible.

The initiative includes an open schema and SDK so other vendors and internal platforms can implement compatible syncs. Early adopters reported faster handoffs between creative and product teams and fewer duplicated token sources.
