Figma Desktop Pro launches with plugin sandboxing and native GPU acceleration

The new Figma Desktop Pro app includes plugin sandboxing to isolate third-party extensions and mitigate supply-chain risk. Plugins run in separate processes with constrained APIs and explicit permission prompts, improving security posture for corporate environments.

Performance improvements come from a native GPU-accelerated renderer that dramatically reduces redraw times for large vector files and complex component libraries. Memory handling was optimized for multi-file workflows, and the app supports background syncing with lower system impact.

Figma also added enterprise deployment controls and remote telemetry toggles so IT teams can manage updates and plugin permissions centrally. The company provided a migration guide for teams moving from the browser to Desktop Pro.
