Figma introduces Generative Vector Layers and Live Design Tokens

Figma rolled out two major features: Generative Vector Layers, which produce fully editable vector shapes from text prompts, and Live Design Tokens, a real-time token synchronization service for design systems. Generative Vector Layers convert AI output into native vector paths, preserving node structure so designers can tweak anchors and curves natively.

Live Design Tokens sync across web, mobile, and code by pushing token deltas to a versioned token registry and offering conflict resolution UI. Teams can now propagate spacing, color, and typography changes to production builds with a single publish action while maintaining semantic token history.

The company also released a set of governance tools for token ownership and publish approvals, targeting enterprise design ops. Early adopters report a 30% reduction in handoff cycles between designers and front-end engineers.
