Figma introduces Live Components 2.0 with collaborative prototyping
Design · 5 min read
Live Components 2.0 expands on Figma’s original live component concept by letting components bind to JSON, APIs, and server-side state during prototyping sessions. Designers can now define data schemas and toggle between live or mock data to preview real interactions instantly.
A/B state previews are built into the inspector, enabling designers and PMs to preview variant-specific metrics like load times and visual regressions. Figma also added server-side rendering endpoints to offload heavyweight animations and media-heavy prototypes during live demos.
Collaboration features include conflict resolution hints for component edits and an audit log showing which changes came from design, engineering, or an automation. Figma says the release is aimed at reducing the friction between high-fidelity prototyping and engineering implementation.
