Figma launches Copilot Beta with real-time context-aware suggestions
Design · 5 min read
Figma's Copilot Beta integrates an assistant directly into the editor's canvas, offering recommendations as you design rather than as modal prompts. Copilot uses document context—components, variants, constraints, and style tokens—to propose changes that respect existing design systems.
Features include automatic contrast improvements with one-click commits, layout constraint adjustments for responsive frames, and contextual microcopy suggestions tied to UX patterns. Designers can preview suggestions as overlays and accept, reject, or tweak them, with changes applied nondestructively to preserve the undo history.
Figma emphasizes privacy and provides admin controls for teams to decide whether Copilot can access private files or only public components. The beta initially supports English and several major design system formats, with wider language and plugin support planned later this year.
