Figma launches Generative Components 2.0 with conditional logic and tokens awareness

Generative Components 2.0 expands Figma's earlier generative feature set by letting components expose conditional rules that the model respects when generating variants. Designers can declare states like 'compact when space < 280px' or 'use secondary color for secondary calls to action', and the generator will produce options that adhere to these constraints.

A tokens-aware engine means generated variants automatically link to design tokens, preserving themeability and platform parity. The update also includes a versioned 'variant intelligence' metadata block that documents why a particular variant was suggested, aiding system governance and design reviews.

Early testers reported fewer mismatch issues when exporting design system components to code, and design ops teams appreciated the audit trail. Some designers voiced concern about over-automation, but Figma emphasized that the tools are intended to speed iteration rather than replace core design judgment.
