Figma launches Generative Components 2.0 with layout-aware AI

Generative Components 2.0 builds on Figma's earlier generative features by making the AI aware of the document's layout engine and design tokens. The model now considers auto-layout rules, grids, and spacing tokens when proposing new components or variants, producing results that plug into existing systems instead of needing wholesale manual adjustment.

A new consistency mode allows designers to generate multiple instances across breakpoints, with the plugin returning a set of matched variants rather than single artifacts. Designers can preview how a generated component behaves under different constraints and accept or edit specific properties while preserving the underlying token mappings.

Figma also introduced an enterprise admin control panel for AI outputs, letting design ops set brand guardrails, tone-of-voice profiles, and allowed token ranges. The company highlighted that the system operates with customer opt-in and that generated assets are stored in the team's workspace rather than used to retrain central models.
