Figma launches Generative Layouts 2.0 with semantic constraints and developer annotations

Figma's Generative Layouts 2.0 introduces semantic awareness to its AI layout engine, allowing designers to specify constraints like 'primary action', 'meta information', or 'search region' and receive automatically generated, accessible responsive layouts. The system now considers ARIA roles and recommended tab order when proposing components.
The update also embeds developer annotations directly into generated frames: CSS classes, responsive breakpoints, and component props are attached as metadata that engineers can consume via the Figma API. Figma says this reduces manual annotation work and improves parity between design intent and implementation.
Generative Layouts 2.0 includes a new audit panel that highlights potential accessibility issues and suggests fixes, such as color contrast tweaks and keyboard focus improvements. The feature is rolling out to enterprise customers with options to fine-tune the underlying generation model on a company's design system.
