Figma launches VectorFlow: AI-driven vector editing with Git-like versioning
Design · 5 min read
Figma unveiled VectorFlow, a major update to its vector editing toolset that adds AI-assisted path generation, auto-simplification, and a Git-like versioning model specific to design assets. VectorFlow’s AI can infer intent from rough strokes, generate editable vector paths, and propose variants tuned for responsive layouts.
The standout feature is design branching: teams can branch a component, apply experimental vector edits, and later merge changes back into the main line with a visual diff that highlights path and anchor modifications. Figma says this model aims to reduce destructive edits and make experimentation with type and iconography safe for large orgs.
VectorFlow also integrates with Figma’s component analytics to surface which generated variants perform better in prototype tests. The company plans a staged rollout with enterprise customers first, then a broader release with templates and community presets.
