Figma Mirror adds AR placement and usability testing telemetry for spatial prototypes
Design · 3 min read
The AR placement tool allows designers to anchor UI components and prototypes to physical surfaces, preserving scale and perspective for vision-aided experiences. This is particularly useful for mixed-reality design and for validating size, legibility, and reach in situ.
Mirror’s usability telemetry captures spatial metrics such as gaze dwell, preferred interaction zones, and time-to-target, exporting them as anonymized CSVs and heatmaps for designers to analyze. The telemetry is opt-in and built for moderated testing sessions.
Design teams can iterate faster on interfaces that bridge screen and space, and the telemetry integration helps quantify ergonomic thresholds and layout decisions. Figma released best-practice templates for capturing consistent session data.
