Figma Mirror gets AR layout previews and device-aware color simulation

Mirror's AR preview mode lets designers place UI mockups on physical devices or surfaces using a phone camera, giving a better feel for scale, ergonomics and compositional balance. Designers can simulate environmental lighting to see how shadows and reflections interact with UI elements.

Device-aware color simulation models common display characteristics — like OLED saturation and wide color gamut shifts — so teams can spot rendering issues before handoff. The simulation is useful for designers working with brand-sensitive palettes and app icons.

User researchers found AR previews especially helpful in guerrilla testing and rapid iterations, while product designers appreciated the ability to catch contrast issues early. Figma plans to open the simulation APIs to plugin developers to expand device profiles.
