Figma releases AutoLayout 3 with conditional rules and version-aware overrides

AutoLayout 3 adds conditional rules that let designers specify layout behavior based on container size, content type, or component state. For example, a card layout can automatically switch from horizontal to vertical based on width, while preserving spacing and alignment constraints without nested workarounds.
Version-aware overrides allow components to carry multiple named override sets that map to different feature flags or product releases. Designers can preview how components behave across versions and export variant-ready assets and specs for developers, creating a smoother design-to-code handoff.
Figma also added analytics hooks so teams can collect anonymized data on how often certain layout variants are used in prototypes. The company says these insights will help teams refine system rules and reduce bespoke tweaks, accelerating scalable UI work.
