Figma Releases VectorGen: AI-Powered Vectorization and Asset Cleanup

Figma announced VectorGen, a new AI-powered vectorization and cleanup feature available in the desktop and web apps. The tool uses a multimodal model to recognize strokes, layers, and intended shapes from photos or scanned sketches, then converts them into editable vector paths with suggested layers and naming conventions.

VectorGen further offers automated path simplification, consistent corner radii, and a ‘componentized output’ toggle that groups repeated elements into reusable components and variants. Designers can preview suggested accessibility labels and color-contrast adjustments as part of the conversion pipeline.

Figma emphasized collaborative workflows: VectorGen includes a review stage where teammates can accept or modify the algorithm's grouping and naming. The feature integrates into existing plugins and supports export to SVG, React component snippets, and popular prototyping tools.
