Figma rolls out Accessibility Insights—inline audits and remediation in design files

Accessibility Insights runs a layered analysis: a passive detector flags visual issues like poor contrast and insufficient hit targets, while an interactive simulator previews keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader label flow. Figma pairs warnings with recommended fixes—snippets of token changes, alt-text templates, and suggested components from the user's design system library—to support one-click remediation.

The feature integrates with component libraries and design tokens, allowing Insights to propose targeted token swaps instead of manual color edits. It also exports a prioritized issue list to engineering handoffs with suggested ARIA attributes and automated Storybook test stubs to reduce back-and-forth during implementation.

Design system teams are already adapting: plugin developers can add custom rules for brand-specific components, and enterprise admins can tune the severity of certain checks. Accessibility consultants caution that while the tool reduces low-hanging issues, it doesn't replace user research with people with disabilities—Figma includes reminders and workflow templates for scheduling inclusive testing sessions.
