Figma Studio launches: native motion design and timeline editing inside Figma
Design · 6 min read
Figma Studio embeds timeline-based animation, easing the creation of micro-interactions and complex component transitions without leaving Figma. Designers will get an integrated timeline panel, auto-keyframing, and device-preview options that simulate different refresh rates and touch input models.
The Studio release allows components to contain motion states that propagate across instances, and includes a new export format—.studiopkg—that preserves motion and interaction logic for development handoffs. Figma said it collaborated with major consumer product teams during beta to ensure code-friendly export for React and SwiftUI.
Figma is pushing Studio as part of its subscription tiers; a free tier remains for static design. The company also announced plug-in APIs for motion presets so third-party creators can ship reusable interaction libraries.
