Figma updates Dev Mode with generative layout engine and component AI hints

Figma rolled out a major update to Dev Mode that integrates a generative layout engine powered by a proprietary model trained on millions of public and opt-in designs. The engine predicts how frames and components should reflow across screen sizes and generates constraints and auto-layout configurations automatically.

Alongside layout generation, Figma introduced inline AI hints that annotate components with accessibility fixes, token suggestions, and probable interaction patterns. Developers can accept suggestions to auto-generate CSS, SwiftUI, or Jetpack Compose code scaffolding, with exported components matching the design system's tokens.

Figma emphasized privacy controls: teams can opt into hosted inference or bring-your-own model endpoints. The update also includes a collaboration history view that maps AI-suggested changes to individual contributors, helping teams audit and iterate on model-assisted design work.
