FlowType raises $18M to ship TypeFlow — a generative typography toolkit for designers

FlowType unveiled TypeFlow, a toolkit that generates variable fonts and typographic systems aligned to design tokens and responsive breakpoints. The company closed an $18 million Series A to expand product development and partner integrations with major design platforms and font foundries.

TypeFlow lets designers describe intent (tone, legibility targets, language coverage) and generates variable-font families with axes optimized for optical sizing and character width. The system emits production-ready font files and a tokens package that synchronizes with design systems for consistent typography at scale.

FlowType plans to offer enterprise licensing that includes font licensing management, international-language support, and integration with localization workflows. Designers who tested TypeFlow said it dramatically reduced time spent on multilingual type spec creation and improved consistency across responsive layouts.
