FormaAI launches 'Design CoPilot' plugin that converts sketches to interactive prototypes

FormaAI debuted Design CoPilot, a plugin that ingests camera-shot sketches or low-fidelity wireframes and generates interactive, componentized prototypes. The tool uses multimodal models to infer layouts, spacing, and component semantics, returning a clickable prototype that teams can export to major frameworks.

Studio Ventures led a $20 million strategic investment to accelerate developer integrations and enterprise features such as role-based access and versioned design tokens. FormaAI says the funding will also underwrite research into multimodal UI understanding and better handling of bespoke design patterns.

Early users reported significant time savings during ideation, with CoPilot suggesting design system components and accessibility-friendly defaults. FormaAI's roadmap includes collaborative editing sessions and telemetry to help teams understand how prototypes evolve into production UI.
