FrameLab unveils Frames: a rapid prototyping device for motion designers

FrameLab launched Frames, a dedicated device for capturing and replaying micro-interactions like button responses, transitions, and haptics. The tool uses high-refresh optical sensors and a synchronized reference camera so motion designers can capture real-world timing and curve data for precise prototyping.

Frames ships with a desktop app that converts captures into high-resolution timing curves and directly exports easing functions and animation definitions for popular UI frameworks. Designers can attach the device to phones, wearables, or custom hardware to build consistent interaction libraries.

FrameLab closed a $7 million seed round led by Foundry Lane and a cohort of angel designers to fund initial manufacturing, expand SDKs, and run an online library for shared motion patterns. The company plans to open an API so third-party apps can pull verified interaction curves into their tools.
