Framer 12 Adds Real-Time Code+Design Sync and Local Model Execution

Framer 12’s live sync keeps React-based prototypes and visual layers tightly coupled, allowing designers to tweak props or styles and see the corresponding code update immediately. This reduces friction when handing off prototypes to engineers and streamlines iterative design-developer workflows.

The release also supports local model execution inside the app, enabling on-device generation of microcopy, placeholder data, or layout suggestions without round-tripping to cloud services. Developers can plug in locally running runtimes or point Framer to enterprise-hosted endpoints.

Framer emphasized that on-device models are sandboxed and that generated code is readable and idiomatic to encourage maintainability. The company sees this as a step toward fully living prototypes that can be productionized with minimal translation work.
