Framer adds AI layout engine with responsive constraint synthesis
Design · 3 min read
Framer introduced an AI layout engine that analyzes a single design artboard and synthesizes responsive constraints to produce adaptive variants for tablets, phones, and wide screens. The engine infers grouping, anchoring, and flexible spacing to preserve intent across resolutions.
The feature integrates with Framer's existing prototyping tools so designers can preview transitions and generate CSS grid and flexbox equivalents for handoff. Framer emphasized that the engine outputs editable constraints rather than opaque code, keeping design control in the user's hands.
Design teams using the beta reported a substantial reduction in manual breakpoint work. Framer plans to add an accessibility-focused layer that ensures generated layouts maintain adequate hit targets and readable type scales.
