Framer adds generative motion presets powered by open multimodal models

Framer's new generative motion presets take a static layout and suggest context-appropriate motion sequences such as entrance timing, easing, and dampening. The generator is multimodal: it considers copy, layout density, and component hierarchy to propose motion that supports clarity and focus. Designers can preview suggested motion, adjust parameters, and export production-ready keyframes for web and native apps.

The underlying model is open and community-extendable, allowing studios to share custom motion libraries. Framer added a safety layer that warns against motion patterns that might trigger vestibular issues or accessibility concerns. The product team emphasized that the AI aids designers rather than replacing motion design decisions.

Motion designers we interviewed appreciated the time savings for common UI transitions, and noted that exported curves and keyframes require minimal hand-tuning. Some specialists requested deeper controls for complex choreographies, which Framer said will arrive in later updates geared toward advanced animation pipelines.
