Framer adds Prototype AI to auto-generate interaction flows from user journeys

Framer introduced Prototype AI, a feature that transforms a written user journey into a set of interactive prototypes, including screen transitions, edge-case modals, and common error states. Designers describe the flow (e.g., onboarding to subscription) and Prototype AI returns a linked prototype with annotations.

The tool generates recommended microinteractions and timing presets while respecting the project’s animation system and component library. It also produces test cases that QA teams can use to verify interaction coverage.

Framer emphasized collaboration: generated prototypes come with an editable script and comments that explain why certain states were included. Teams can accept, tweak, or reject individual interactions during review.

Prototype AI aims to speed up early-stage UX validation; however, experienced interaction designers caution that generated flows should be considered scaffolding rather than finished interaction design, particularly for accessibility nuances and complex error handling.
