Framer introduces AI-assisted animation timelines and natural-language keyframing

The new animation assistant can interpret prompts like 'bounce on entry, slow fade to 0.8 opacity over 400ms, then drift up 12px' and create a timeline with editable keyframes, easing curves, and timing. The assistant suggests multiple animation approaches with trade-offs for performance and perceived responsiveness.

Framer also added a preview inspector that highlights potential performance hotspots and suggests lighter alternatives for lower-powered devices. Designers can lock certain properties like color or layout so the assistant only manipulates motion-related attributes.

Teams reported that the assistant accelerates microinteraction exploration and makes it easier to propose motion specs in design reviews. Senior motion designers noted they still prefer hand-tuning for nuanced interactions, but appreciate the tool for rapid prototyping and onboarding new team members.
