Nebula Run originally had a fixed HUD that displayed health, shield, ammo, waypoint list, and real-time resource tickers at all times. The redesign introduced an adaptive HUD that surfaces elements contextually: ammo appears prominently during combat, waypoint lists collapse during exploration, and mission-critical prompts push less relevant widgets to the periphery. Haptic cues were added to the controller to signal low shield or incoming threats, reducing visual clutter and enabling players to keep attention on the action. Visual hierarchy was simplified with modular cards and consistent micro-animations for state changes.

Post-launch telemetry showed a 17% reduction in UI toggles and a 12% lift in retention among players in the first week. Players reported feeling “less distracted” and more immersed in qualitative interviews.
