GitHub Copilot for Design expands to Illustrator and vector layer suggestions

The Illustrator extension analyzes layered documents and recommends semantic names, grouping, and export settings optimized for web and native apps. It can suggest which layers should be flattened, converted to masks, or exported as separate assets to maintain fidelity across screens and resolutions.

Copilot for Design also offers code-oriented snippets: when designers flag an element for export, the tool generates SVG fragments with clean attributes, associated CSS variables, and notes for how to animate or integrate the asset into a component. This reduces the back-and-forth typically required when turning artboard assets into production UI.

GitHub emphasized privacy controls and the ability to restrict cloud-based assistance, letting teams run the model locally or within private enterprise environments. The company is positioning the tool as an organizational helper more than a creative authoring agent.
