Glyph Labs raises $18M to launch handwriting CLIP for designers
Design · 4 min read
Glyph Labs unveiled HandClip, a vision-language model specialized in handwriting recognition and style transfer for calligraphic and handwritten forms. Unlike generic CLIP models, HandClip encodes stroke dynamics and pressure-sensitive vector data so it can suggest vectors that mimic a particular hand or tool.
The company announced an $18 million Series A led by FontFund and Creative Ventures. Funding will be used to expand data partnerships with type foundries, refine stroke-conditioned generative models, and build plugins for major design tools.
HandClip's use cases include generating typeface alternates, automating brand handwriting assets, and enabling designers to convert messy scans into editable vector strokes. Early adopters in boutique branding agencies praise the model's ability to preserve authentic hand nuances.
