GlyphOS raises $22M and unveils CompactOS for low-power generative AI devices

GlyphOS announced a $22M Series A led by Edge Frontier and introduced CompactOS, an operating system tailored for devices running on-device generative AI models. CompactOS provides secure model sandboxes, resource-aware schedulers, and privacy-first telemetry to help manufacturers ship AI features without compromising user data.

The OS supports a range of model runtimes and includes a policy engine for limiting model outputs, tracking provenance, and ensuring explainable decision logs. GlyphOS says CompactOS reduces memory overhead and boot time compared to general-purpose Linux distributions used in existing edge devices.

The funding will be used to certify CompactOS across chip vendors, develop OEM tooling, and expand support for real-time inference on NPUs and DPUs. GlyphOS also announced partnerships with a consumer robotics maker and a smart appliance brand for initial deployment.
