Google debuts Prompt Playground: a visual prompt authoring tool for designers

Prompt Playground allows designers to compose prompt blocks—text, image constraints, style tokens—and link them into reusable prompt templates. The visual editor includes a trace mode that shows how different prompt pieces influence model outputs and which tokens are most influential.

The tool supports scenario testing, letting users run a prompt across a batch of sample inputs to see robustness and edge-case behavior. Google added versioning and collaborative comments so teams can iterate on prompt design similar to components in a design system.

Prompt Playground integrates with common model providers and provides export hooks for automation and CI. Google emphasized the product is for prompt engineering at scale and will be available in a hosted tier and an enterprise self-host option.
