Google DeepMind launches 'Gemini Studio' — a creative model for UI animation and motion design

DeepMind introduced Gemini Studio, a creative AI that generates motion design assets from storyboards, text descriptions, or sample recordings. Gemini Studio can produce keyframe suggestions, easing curves, and export directly to Lottie JSON or After Effects-compatible formats. The model is trained on a broad corpus of motion patterns and UI interaction data to produce realistic micro-interactions.
Gemini Studio includes an 'interaction tester' that simulates devices and screen sizes, letting designers preview timing and tactile feedback. The system also offers a 'consistency mode' to ensure motion durations and easing adhere to a project's motion token guidelines. Plugins are available for Figma and Framer to import motion specs directly into prototypes.
Motion teams testing the tool reported faster ideation cycles and less manual keyframing, especially for standard UI patterns like modal entries, hover states, and list transitions. Critics noted that high-fidelity cinematic motion still benefits from hand-tuning. DeepMind emphasized that Gemini Studio is designed to augment motion designers, not replace them, by automating repetitive aspects of animation production.
