Google expands Gemini with multimodal UI components for third-party apps

The updated Gemini capabilities expose prebuilt UX components like suggestion chips, multimodal cards, inline image annotations, and playable microinteractions. These components are designed to be themeable so they adopt app styling and accessibility settings automatically.

Developers can compose a hybrid UI where Gemini handles content generation and ranking while the host app controls layout and telemetry. Google also shipped a new Assistant Canvas playground that simulates different device sizes and interaction modalities to test how Gemini components reflow.

Google emphasized privacy controls: components can be deployed with on-device caching rules and redaction templates. The company highlighted use cases across customer support, design assistants, and content creation tools where these UI primitives can accelerate integration.
