Google integrates Gemini 2.5 into Workspace with context-aware design assist

Gemini 2.5 is being embedded more deeply into Google Workspace workflows: Slides can now propose slide layouts based on a topic outline, Docs can tag sections with suggested headings and summaries, and Gmail drafts get context-aware tone tuning. For design teams, the most notable feature is a new layout assistant that suggests component groupings and spacing consistent with Material guidelines.
The assistant leverages page-level understanding to create accessible labels and ARIA-like annotations that teams can export into design tokens. Google says the feature accelerates handoffs between content authors and designers, reducing back-and-forth on structure and semantics.
As usual, Google emphasized an enterprise-first rollout with admin controls and data residency options. Workspace admins can tune the assistant’s permissiveness and monitor usage through new audit logs.
