Google launches DesignGPT within Gemini Studio and releases a Figma plugin

Google's Gemini Studio now includes DesignGPT, a model trained to suggest layout variants, micro-interactions, and accessibility fixes. Paired with a Figma plugin, DesignGPT can ingest a file and propose interaction maps and animation timing that conform to Material standards.

DesignGPT offers an 'export intent' feature that produces annotated design tokens and mapping rules for Android, web, and Flutter. It also exposes a visual diff mode so designers can preview how suggested changes will affect different breakpoints and themes.

Google positions DesignGPT as a collaborative assistant: suggestions can be staged as change proposals for stakeholders and integrated with project management tools. The plugin will be available to Gemini Studio customers and as a free Figma plugin with usage limits.
