Google Play Introduces Play Integrity for Subscription Fraud Detection

The Play Integrity update aims to curb subscription fraud and unauthorized access by analyzing hashed signals on-device and sending only aggregated model updates to Google's servers for model training.

Developers can opt into enriched risk scores for installs and subscriptions that balance detection accuracy with privacy. Google provided integration guides and sample code for apps to act on risk scores with flexible flows: challenge, captcha, or secondary verification.

The system also includes a feedback loop so developers can report false positives, helping the federated model refine over time. Google framed the change as an industry step toward privacy-first fraud detection.
