Google releases Gemini-for-Design model for structured layouts and component intent

Gemini-for-Design aims to bridge the gap between sketch-level wireframes and structured design tokens. Given a rough layout or screenshot, the model can propose a component hierarchy, recommended tokens, and responsive behavior encoded as machine-readable schemas.
Google provided integration examples for exporting to common design tools and for generating spec documents consumed by engineering teams. The model supports round-trip workflows where designers refine the generated schema and retrain the model on project-specific conventions.
The structured approach reduces ambiguity in handoff and enables automated tests that assert consistency between design mockups and implemented UI. Product teams said the model helps accelerate the transition from exploratory wireframes to production-ready component libraries.
