Google Workspace adds Gemini-powered UI suggestions for Docs and Slides

Gemini now analyzes the semantic structure of a document or slide deck and recommends visual treatments that match tone and audience: formal business, creative pitch, or educational. Suggestions can be applied with a single click or tweaked via a design sidebar.

Under the hood, recommendations are constrained by accessibility heuristics — contrast ratios, color-blind palettes, and font legibility thresholds — to help teams ship materials that meet basic UX standards. Users can lock any suggestion or provide feedback to refine the model’s future recommendations.

Google emphasized that these suggestions run with enterprise controls; admins can restrict auto-design suggestions or route processing through customer-managed encryption keys. The update is rolling out to Workspace Enterprise customers first, with broader availability planned later this year.
