GreenNode launches CarbonAware CDN and secures $22M from sustainability funds

GreenNode’s CDN calculates real-time carbon intensity by region and chooses routing and cache strategies to minimize emissions while meeting latency SLAs. Customers can set policy preferences — aggressive carbon targets or mixed optimization for cost and carbon trade-offs.

The $22 million round included Evergreen Impact and several climate-focused funds and will fund regional PoP expansion, reliability engineering, and integrations with major cloud providers. GreenNode also announced pilot partnerships with media publishers and streaming services looking to reduce per-view carbon footprints.

GreenNode offers dashboards with carbon per-request attribution and exportable reports for sustainability teams and regulatory compliance. The startup argues that content delivery is a measurable lever for companies to lower scope-3 emissions without degrading end-user experience.
