Haptix Labs launches tactile SDK and raises $18M seed round
Tech · 4 min read
Haptix Labs, a startup working on next-generation haptics, launched a cross-platform SDK that exposes granular tactile patterns to mobile and XR applications. The SDK abstracts hardware differences and offers presets for textures, impacts, and continuous sensations compatible with partner actuators.
Alongside the SDK launch, Haptix announced an $18 million seed round led by Meridian Ventures and supported by several gaming and wearable hardware investors. The funding will expand firmware work, developer docs, and integrations with Unity and Unreal Engine. Haptix stressed that developer adoption, not hardware lock-in, is central to its go-to-market plan.
Initial demos showcased more convincing material perceptions for virtual objects—wood grain, metallic impacts, and subtle vibrations for UI elements. Haptix said it’s in talks with three consumer-device makers to certify actuators for consistent output across ecosystems.
