HelioGrid releases EdgeWave, an open-source edge compute stack, and secures $15M strategic round

EdgeWave combines a lightweight runtime, device discovery, and a scheduler tuned for intermittent connectivity and energy constraints. The platform provides standardized model packaging and a heat-aware placement engine to balance latency, throughput, and power use across fleets of cameras, gateways, and on-prem servers.

The $15 million strategic round included participation from regional telcos and cloud partners who plan to integrate EdgeWave into managed edge offerings. HelioGrid will use the funds to grow engineering teams, produce certified device integrations, and expand documentation and commercial support options.

HelioGrid says EdgeWave’s open-source license is intentionally permissive to encourage ecosystem adoption while offering an enterprise subscription with guaranteed SLAs and certified security stacks. Early adopters in retail and manufacturing reported faster deployment cycles and measurable reductions in cloud egress costs.
