HelioNet announces EdgeStream and raises $20M to deliver low-latency cloud rendering for AR games

HelioNet unveiled EdgeStream, a distributed edge rendering service that streams rendered frames for mobile AR applications to reduce on-device load while maintaining low latency. The network deploys micro-cloud nodes near dense population centers and optimizes frame delivery for AR motion smoothing.

The $20 million round will expand HelioNet's global edge footprint, build an SDK for major mobile engines, and develop predictive prefetching models to anticipate scene complexity. HelioNet says the service targets AR developers who need higher fidelity graphics without sacrificing battery life or thermal constraints on mobile devices.

Developers in pilot programs reported smoother AR experiences with richer visuals and fewer dropped frames. HelioNet plans to add per-session QoS controls for multiplayer AR experiences and to certify privacy-preserving rendering pipelines for sensitive environments.
